I kill, because I love my country

In the Vietnam war, the US soldiers knew who they were fighting with, and what they were fighting Sadly, in the Iraq war or war on terror in general, the US soldiers know what they are fighting for, but not who they are fighting with. The Vietnam war emerged out of the cold war, the competition between two hegemony over ideology and power; while the US was helping Vietnam for the purpose of the installation of democracy, soldiers has a sense of responsibility for the people of Vietnam, the brighter non-communist future. The poem "Face it" by Komenyaka showed the reality of Vietnam war, it does not matter whether the mission was a success or not, lives lost and will never come back, "the name stays on the wall". After the Vietnam war, war became  a duty of America, a symbol of patriotism, regardless of  why and what are we fighting for, people go to war just to be a patriot. Same with war on terror, the country Iraq "may" have weapons of mass destruction, so we go first and destroy them, without even realizing who are the supplier of those weapon, or did they actually have them. The poems by Brian Turner showed the frustration of US soldiers abroad; clearly, these soldiers are smarter than the decision makers in Washington, the US are spreading hatred, not democracy, and there is no end or going back. In Brain Turner's poem "What Every Soldier Should Know", the vivid act of hatred against Americans were depicted perfectly, every single person there will sacrifice themselves just for killing Americans, and Americans has no one else to blame but themselves. Since speaking against war on terror is against America, hence one should grab a gun without question the legitimacy, and there goes the difference between America and North Korea.
